***Family Favorite***
Connect 4 is a simple classic strategy game. This particular version has alternative ways to play but we prefer the original. Place the checkers into the special board and try to get 4 in a row while preventing your opponent from doing the same.
Advertised as 6+, this 2 player game plays very quickly.
Our Thoughts:
These game is a classic for a reason. It's a simple concept with a bit of strategy and thinking ahead, and not so focused on your own pieces that you miss what your opponent is doing. It's easy for kids to play at different levels, my 6 year old has been known to beat my 9 year old.
Why this is a great game for families : the premise is simple and really anyone can play, and it really introduces strategy to younger kids who quickly learn that they have to pay attention to their moves. If you are up for it, try playing some of the alternate versions to add a bit of variety to the game, but ultimately we like playing the classic version best. For a competitive game, this one is a good one that teaches kids sportmsnaship.
Mom Thoughts : Can't get much simpler than Connect4. I can play with my kids and they have been known to beat me, and my kids who don't like losing seem to be fine when they lose this one.
Werewolf Thoughts: My favorite game. I love the strategy in trapping people and finding the best way to win.
Rosie Thoughts: I like setting up traps.
Robot Thoughts : I like winning and I like making towers out of the pieces.
Lizard Thoughts : I like playing that game too! The concept is still a bit abstract for a 4 year old, but he also has fun making patterns out of the game pieces.
Overall Recommendation : you can find this game everywhere, and it's worth having in the game library for a quick game to play.
Where to Find It?
Anywhere you find board games, this one is a classic.
Note: We've had this one in our family for a number of years. Opinion is our own.
