Race for the Treasure

A cooperative game by Peaceable Kingdom, pick a tile and create a path to the keys and the end of the game before the Ogres beat you. Roll a couple of dice at the beginning to determine where the keys and ogre snacks lie and then use chance as you pick up tiles to make a path, however, careful as you could pick up an ogre too.

Advertised as 5+, with 2-4 players and about 20 minutes to play through a game.
Our Thoughts
This simple game is great because the kids can play it independently, and the older kids don't mind playing it as well as the younger.  Although it says 5+, younger kids could certainly play this one with a little help from older siblings or an adult.
Why this is a great one for Families : We are always a fan of coop games in our home, and this one has a simple premise that everyone can enjoy. You just flip a tile over and try to figure out the best place to put it on the board to get the keys.

Mom Thoughts : This one plays quick and simple, older kids can play it amidst themselves and younger kids don't need much guidance to get the idea. There is a little strategy involved, if you aren't careful you could get yourself into a spot, but it helps build teamwork.

Werewolf Thoughts : it’s fun, I enjoy playing it with my family (she is at the older spectrum for this game but she finds it fun enough to play with younger siblings)

Rosie Thoughts : basically my favorite! I like how you get to chose how you make the path, and then I like how you get to use the dice to put the keys in place at the beginning. It’s fun!

Robot Thoughts : I don’t like it (not sure why, he wouldn’t tell me, but apparently it is hit and miss for some kids)

Lizard Thoughts : I like it ( it’s an easy one for him to play)

Recommendation : If you have younger kids, this is a good one to try, some educational merits in teaching kids how to read grids. The game maker is one of our favorites as well. Worth picking up if you have young kids at home, pass on it if they are all 8 and older as it won't have much longevity after that.

Where to find it

Note: We picked this game up used from a thrift shop, what a find!
